#gestezchezvous performance at Théâtre Victor Hugo in Paris
During lockdown, Valentina Temussi (Lecturer in Movement), facilitated IAB Acting students’ participation with Paris based visual and physical theatre company, Hippocampe.
The company had embarked on a project named #gestezchezvous, now well known throughout France. Having provided a tutorial to create a solo piece at home, Hippocampe invited participants to send in their video, which they publicised across their social media. The project was then created in collaboration with the theatre Théâtre Victor Hugo in Paris where they performed the piece. Details of the project are available at: https://www.mime-corporel-theatre.com/mimesis/317-gestezchezvous-english-version.html
As Valentina was creating a similar project with the Acting students from the IAB, Hippocampe organised an online event where those that created a solo piece, could perform it together. This then took place on Zoom and included a large number of students from the IAB. It was also shown live on Facebook.
Following the online event, Hippocampe organised a live event on October 3rd, 2020 in Paris and invited the IAB to take part. Unfortunately, due to the travel restrictions, only one IAB student, Jacqueline Moré, was able to participate.
Future collaborative projects with Hippocampe, also involving IAB students from the Dance department, are under way.
