Taking place on December 2nd and 3rd, and moderated by Armando Rotondi, the Q & A sessions aimed to consider with students some current hot topics. One was centred around the important of of the avant-gardes and how to see and recreate hisotrical avant-gardes today, in discussion with Iacopo Di Girolamo. Iacopo is film maker based in Bristol and author of the internationally acclaimed “N”, where he uses the German Expressionism style.

Q&A with Iacopo Di Girolamo
On the theme: “Nightmares, distorted realities and avant-gardes: recreating German Expressionism in N”Â
Iacopo Di Girolamo is a filmmaker, performer, musician and sketch artist, based in Bristol (UK). After a degree (2003) in Film with Media Studies and Video Production in the UK, he has worked intensively as a filmmaker in Australia, Italy Belgium, Spain and the UK. Currently he  works as a video maker for the University of the West of England (UWE). In addition, he is CEO & Founder / Filmmaker at Grapevine Studio. His experimental short “N” has been screened at international festival winning prizes as best short film worldwide.

Q&A with Guy Bar-Amotz
On the theme: “(Post-)human performance and (human) machines: creating and directed robots”
Guy Bar Amotz is one of the main visual artists internationally, working on visual arts, live and robotic performances and art installation. Bar Amotz’s projects have been commissioned by art spaces such as The Israel Museum (Jerusalem), Tate Britain (London), CCA (Geneva), Project (Dublin) the Ein-Harod Museum, the Stedelijk Museum’s Bureau (Amsterdam), Kwangju Biennale (South Korea), The Biennale of Sydney 1998, The Ikon Gallery (Birmingham UK), Fuori Uso (Italy), Saitama Museum of Modern Art (Japan), The Trade Apartment and the APT (London), W139 (Amsterdam), Fashion House W<‘s Show Room (Antwerp), and Transport for London’s Platform for Art (London). Bar Amotz collaborates with London-based choreographer Jasmin Vardimon, realising video, media and set design for Jasmin Vardimon Dance Company’s most successful projects: Lullaby, Park, Justitia, Yesterday, 7734, Freedom, Pinocchio, and Medusa.
